A long drive up to the mountains to spend a bit of time looking at an annular eclipse from a mountain top followed by a night sleeping under the stars at Camp Capelis. Then waking up early to make it back to work in time to catch most of the workday on Monday.

== When ==
Sunday, 20 May 2012.

The annular eclipse happens between 18:28 and 18:32.

It's going to be a quick trip that involves lots of driving and not enough not driving, but bring some people in your car, enjoy the beautiful mountain-scapes you're driving through and you just might have fun during the driving parts too.

Brief "plan":
*Sunday morning - Depart
*Sunday afternoon/evening - Arrive
*Sunday 17:14 - Partial eclipse begins (Mountain top)
*Sunday 18:28-18:32 - Annular eclipse begins (Mountain top)
*Sunday 19:32 - Partial eclipse ends (Mountain top)
*Sunday evening - Campfire and some eating at Camp Capelis
*Sunday night - Sleep under the stars

== What to bring ==

If you have appropriate things to protect your eyes, go ahead and bring them. A welding filter #14 or above is the standard recommendation. DJ read a study that said that #12 should be acceptable.

There will be a few spare #12 filters that we'll be passing around, so everyone should expect to be able to look at the eclipse.

=== For camping ===
A sleeping bag and a tarp is sufficient, tents are welcome if you'd like. DJ is bringing water. Picking up something to snack on or some food to share. A campfire seems likely as the evening wears on.
